There is a sound louder than anything out there, though it makes no noise and that is silence.
In todayās world, we are rarely alone with ourselves. The hum of the world noise follows us from morning to midnight. Our ears are saturated with opinions, music, instructions, and endless noise...noise...noise.
Many think of magic as incantations, complicated rituals but the most overlooked magical tool is silence itself. Why?
Because silence is not the absenceĀ of sound it's the presenceĀ of awareness. When we silence the world, we start to hear what has been whispering all along: the intuition, our own spirit. In Hermetic traditions, the phrase "to know, to dare, to will, and to keep silent" is a core maxim and the last part is often the hardest, that inner stillness required to receiveĀ wisdom.

Across spiritual traditions, silence has been revered because in silence the divine reveals itself.
The desert fathers of early Christianity retreated into caves to hear the voice of God.
Tibetan monks practiced silence as a form of discipline, to train the mind to listen rather than command.
The ancient Egyptian mystery schools required initiates to undergo periods of silence before being taught any sacred knowledge.
These werenāt just rituals of deprivation they were some form of initiation and silence was the teacher. When you light a candle and sit in silence, youāre not doing nothing. Youāre allowing everything else... the subtle energies to emerge. Some practitioners report receiving full visions, downloads in complete stillness. Others feel an overwhelming sense of presence, as if someone is sitting beside them.
Is it your higher self? A spirit guide? Perhaps all of them. Silence, after all, is where boundaries blur.
Hereās a small ritual for those curious to explore:
Choose a timeĀ when you wonāt be disturbed.
Create a sacred space by lighting a candle.
Sit in complete silenceĀ for 15 -30 minutes.
If thoughts come, let them drift by like clouds. Focus on what you hear in the silence even if itās nothing. That nothing is something.
Afterwards, write down whatever you experienced, even if it feels mundane. You may notice patterns over time, or receive insight days later.
