✨3 Books that got me through a life crisis

Updated: Jun 3

There comes a time in life, maybe more than once, when everything starts to fall apart. For me, this period was in my early 20s. The kind of events that make you question your power and even your purpose in life.

Nothing I used to rely on made sense anymore. I felt disconnected, confused, and overwhelmed by a world that was spinning, but as always, in moments of darkness, the right words and most importantly the right people/authors have a way of finding you.

Here are the three books that helped me through that life storm, books that didn’t just offer some answers, but unlocked something inside me and helped me continue.

1. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill -🔗 link

This was the book that opened doors for me. I didn’t pick it up because I was particularly interested in wealth. Is quite of story with this book, but will share it in some other blog post and I shared it many times in my youtube videos.

I was broke, lost, and needed something ... anything...that will give me a sense of direction.

Think and Grow Rich was the first book that truly showed me the power of the mind. Not in a vague, motivational way but in a focused, intentional, discipline of thought kind of way. It taught me that what you think, what you imagine, what you hold in your mind consistently becomes real. That desire, belief, and repetition aren’t just ideas, they’re tools.

I used the principles in this book to manifest my first job when I was at rock bottom financially. It wasn’t luck, it wasn’t coincidence, it was focus, willpower, and belief, just like Hill taught.

This book gave me the first taste of personal power, and once you taste that, you can’t go back.

2. Secrets of a Lifetime by Basil Crouch

The Book that confirmed that magick is real. I’ll be honest, this book isn’t for everyone. Basil Crouch was known as a black magician, and Secrets of a Lifetime definitely leans into some shadowy, areas but not that much as his other works which I don't recommend.

But sometimes the right message comes in strange packaging.

This book didn’t just tell me about magick, it made me believe it was possible.

Crouch spoke about mentation, focus, the creative force of the mind, and the reality-bending nature of thought in a way that felt real. I have to admit that even to this day, who ever says what, to me that's the material that offered me the foundation. It was the first book that truly made me go, “Wait... maybe I’m not imagining things. Maybe this power I’ve felt inside me all along is something real.” It showed me that magick isn’t about aesthetics, it’s about focus, force, and feeling.

Unfortunately, this is no longer in print, so you will have to search for a pdf online in order to read it.

3. The Power of Imagination by Neville Goddard -🔗 link

Where Napoleon Hill gave me structure, and Basil Crouch gave me a spark, Neville Goddard gave me peace.

The Power of Imagination felt like coming home. Neville’s words are clear, simple but deep. He taught me that imagination is not just a creative tool, it’s the very foundation of reality.

This book helped me understand how everything I experience is a reflection of my internal state. That I am not separate from the world around me, I am creating it, consciously or not.

It helped me stop looking outside myself for rescue and start looking within.

Neville didn’t just talk about visualizing things. He spoke about feeling them into existence. He redefined prayer and manifestation for me and other people as well. Whenever I start to drift again, this is the book I return to.

These three books, so different in tone, yet so aligned in message, pulled me through a time when I felt like nothing made sense. They reminded me of what I’ve always known deep down: my thoughts create my world. My mind is sacred. My imagination is divine.

If you’re going through your own stuff right now, know this: the answers won’t always come from outside. But the right words can help you remember what’s already within you, and sometimes, that’s all you need to keep going.
